Quit Smoking Method – What are Your Beliefs?
Let’s have a look at the different beliefs you have about smoking and everything associated with it. The reason we are reviewing these beliefs is quite simple. If you want to change a behavior, you have to change the beliefs that go along with this behavior. You have seen how we have been brainwashed by society, both the smoking part and the nonsmoking part.
Which beliefs has this brainwashing created in your mind?
As we will see in the next chapter, it first created a belief that actually got us hooked on smoking. In this chapter we will focus on the beliefs we have developed as a smoker. These are the beliefs that make it difficult for us to quit.
As a smoker you believe:
- that smoking is a bad habit, not a drug addiction, and it’s very difficult to break habits
- that you smoke because you choose to
- that the only way you can quit is by having a lot of willpower
- that you need a cigarette to relax or concentrate
- that your food won’t taste as good anymore if you don’t have a cigarette afterwards
- that you get real pleasure from smoking a cigarette
- that quitting is very difficult and almost impossible
- that you have to go through a lot of misery and pain before you finally free yourself from cigarettes
- that you’ll never succeed in quitting because you are completely hooked on smoking
- that you’ll never be completely free from your addiction, like other drug addicts are never really free
- that your life won’t be the same without your friend, the cigarette and that you’ll miss something in your life
- that you have to make an enormous sacrifice to quit
- that you’ll miss something very badly because you know so many people who have failed
- that you’ll suffer physically by quitting because of the withdrawal pains
- that you enjoy smoking
- that you’ll put on weight when you stop smoking.
Maybe you are thinking that you don’t have all these beliefs, maybe just a few of them. Good, even better. The fewer beliefs you have from this list, the better. Once you are able to change these beliefs or resolve them, you are ready to smoke your last cigarette; you are ready for your big Final Liberation and mega celebration of being a free non-smoker!
